About Marge Monko

Marge Monko has studied photography at the Estonian Academy of Arts and at the Univer- sity of Applied Arts, Vienna, and works with photography, video and installation. Her works are often inspired by historical images and influenced by the theories of psychoanalysis, femi- nism and visual culture. Monko has had solo exhibitions a.o. in Finnish Museum of Photography and in mumok, Vienna. Group exhibitions include Manifesta 9, Genk, Belgium; CCA Glasgow, UK; Bétonsalon, Paris; Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork, Ireland. In 2013-2015 she participated in studio program in HISK (Higher Institute for Contemporary Art, Ghent, Belgium); she had a residency in ISCP (International Studio & Curatorial Program), New York, in 2015 and in KulturKonakt Austria, Vienna, in 2016. / Marge Monko estudou fotografia na Academia de Artes da Estônia e na Universidade de Artes Aplicadas de Viena, e trabalha com fotografia, vídeo e instalação. Suas obras são muitas vezes inspiradas em imagens históricas e influenciadas pelas teorias da psicanálise, pelo feminismo e pela cultura visual. Monko expôs em mostras individuais no Museu Finlandês da Fotografia, em Helsinque, e na Galeria Mumok, em Viena, Áustria, entre outras. Entre as participações em exposições coletivas estão: Manifesta 9, Genk, Bélgica; Centro de Arte Contemporânea (CCA), em Glasgow, Reino Unido; Bétonsalon, Paris; Galeria Lewis Glucksman; e Cork, Irlanda. Em 2013 e 2015, participou de um programa de ateliê no HISK (Instituto Superior de Arte Contemporânea, Ghent, Bélgica). Em 2015, a artista participou de uma residência no ISCP (International Studio & Curatorial Program), em Nova York e, em 2016, na KulturKonakt Austria, em Viena.
